2024–2026 Ford Ranger Upgrades, Ranked: 3 Mods in Order, With Rail-Cap and Model-Year Fit Traps
Three upgrades for the fifth-generation Ranger, in the order most owners should buy them. On this truck the order is shaped by a 2024 redesign that reset the part numbers, by plastic bed rail caps and Ford's optional cargo rails, and by listings whose years stop at 2024 or 2025.

- Buy 2024+ part numbers. The bed is about 59.6 in long and 48.2 in between the wheel wells, against 61 in and 44.8 in on the older SuperCrew bed.
- One cab, one bed. MotorWeek's launch report says the 2024 Ranger comes only as a SuperCrew with a 5 ft bed.
- Look along the bed rails before any bed purchase. The rail caps are plastic, and Ford's optional cargo management rails rule out the RetraxPRO XR and Rough Country's cover.
- Read the year range and the Raptor line. Several titles stop at 2024 or 2025, BAK lists a 2026-only MX4, and no floor liner pick names the Raptor.
- Check for a receiver before hitch shopping. Ford's towing guide puts the hitch receiver in the Trailer Tow Package, standard on the Raptor and an option on the other models.
Ranger upgrades in priority order
Each step links to a full fit-checked guide for the 2024–2026 Ford Ranger.
Floor liners first: one cab, one transmission, and the lowest price on the page
Floor liners lead because they cost the least, every owner can use them and their fit rule is the shortest on the page. Ford's Ranger page shows one cab, the SuperCrew, and a 10-speed automatic on every model, so there is no SuperCab rear piece and no clutch-pedal version to match. Three checks remain. The first is the year. Makers sell separate liners for the 2024 redesign, so the title should name 2024 or later. The second is the floor covering. LASFIT sells its set for carpet floors only, and Smartliner's second-row title says the same, so lift a factory mat and look. The third is the Raptor, which no pick title names. Prices in the floor liner guide run about $139–$180 for LASFIT's three-piece set and about $79–$150 for Smartliner, which sells by row and states a limited lifetime warranty. The Husky, TuxMat and 3D MAXpider picks are priced on their listings. The trade-off is paperwork against price: LASFIT's page states 45-day returns but no warranty length.
Skip it if: You drive in a dry climate and are content with the factory mats, or the floor is vinyl and no seller has confirmed a set cut for it.

Compare all 5 floor mats & liners picks →Tonneau cover second: bed length is settled, so check year, Raptor and cargo rails
A tonneau cover ranks second because the Ranger has one 5 ft bed, and keeping it dry and covered makes all of it usable. Every US truck has the same bed, so four other checks decide fit. Generation: BAK's 448342, TruXedo's 531701 and Tyger's TG-BC3F1205 replace the 2019–2023 part numbers. Model year: a Ranger6G owner found the 2026 rail caps thinner than on a 2025, and BAK lists a separate MX4, 448352, for 2026. Raptor: RealTruck lists the BAKFlip MX4, UnderCover Ultra Flex, RetraxPRO XR and TruXedo Lo Pro for it, Rough Country excludes it and Tyger doesn't list it. Cargo rails: Retrax and Rough Country say their covers are not compatible with Ford's cargo management system. Prices in the tonneau cover guide are about $239 for the Tyger T3, about $490 for the Lo Pro, about $700 for Rough Country's hard tri-fold, about $1,100 for the MX4, about $1,200 for the Ultra Flex and about $2,100 for the RetraxPRO XR. The XR is rated at 500 lb spread evenly and the MX4 and Ultra Flex at 400 lb. If a rack is likely, read slot three before paying.
Skip it if: You haul tall loads most days, or you plan a rack and haven't yet picked a cover that works with it.
Our best overall: BAKFlip MX4 Hard Folding Tonneau Cover 448342 ($1,100)
Compare all 6 tonneau covers picks →Bed rack last: decide it early, buy it when you need it
The bed rack comes last because the fewest owners need one, it costs the most and it has the least confirmed fit of the three. The bed rack guide found few brand-name racks that name the 2024+ Ranger in their titles, so every pick carries a confirm note. The rail caps are plastic, and Ranger6G owners report caps breaking under rack weight. And Ford's cargo management rails can block racks that clamp to the bed rails. Prices in the guide run about $600 for Thule's Xsporter Pro Low, rated at 220 lb, about $799 for Yakima's OutPost HD towers and about $1,200 for the OverHaul HD towers, both sold without crossbars and rated at 500 lb on-road and 300 lb off-road, and from about $2,399 for Putco's Venture TEC, rated at 1,000 lb static, 600 lb dynamic and 300 lb off-road. The JOYTUTUS and OBNAUX clamp racks are priced on their listings. Putco's listing reads 2019–2025, which spans two different beds. If you camp from the truck, move this slot up and choose the cover around the rack.
Skip it if: Your loads fit under a cover and you don't carry boats, ladders or a tent.
Our best overall: Putco Venture TEC Rack (From $2,399)

| Upgrade | Budget | Mid | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| Floor liners | About $79–$150 (Smartliner, sold by row; the low end is a single row) | About $139–$180 (LASFIT three-piece set, carpet floors only) | About $139–$180 (LASFIT set; the Husky, TuxMat and 3D MAXpider picks are priced on their listings) |
| Tonneau cover | About $239 (Tyger T3 soft tri-fold, TG-BC3F1205) | About $700 (Rough Country hard tri-fold, 47220520B; Rough Country says it is compatible with bed racks) | About $2,100 (RetraxPRO XR, T-80338, with T-slot rails for a rack over the cover) |
| Bed rack | None in this tier. The budget clamp racks are priced on their listings and don't state cover fit | About $799 (Yakima OutPost HD towers). Rough Country names no rack, so confirm the pair in Yakima's fit lookup | About $1,200 (Yakima OverHaul HD towers). The guides don't confirm these towers on the XR's rails, so ask Yakima and Retrax |
| Total | About $318–$389 (liners and cover) | About $1,638–$1,679 before crossbars and tonneau kit | About $3,439–$3,480 before crossbars and any kit |
One cab, one bed, four models: what changes the parts
The fifth-generation Ranger removes the two questions that decide fit on most midsize trucks. MotorWeek's report of the May 2023 launch says the 2024 Ranger is available only as a SuperCrew with a 5 ft bed. Ford's Ranger page, which showed the 2026 model when we read it, lists the SuperCrew and a 59.6 in bed, and Ford's 2024 and 2026 towing guides list no other cab. None of those Ford pages says in so many words that the SuperCrew is the only cab, so the word "only" is MotorWeek's. The site's vehicle data stores the bed as 60 in. Cover makers print it as 5 ft, 5'1" or 60 in.
The bed is not the old bed. The guides cite dealer specifications of about 59.6 in inside length and 48.2 in between the wheel wells, against 61 in and 44.8 in on the 2019–2023 Ranger SuperCrew. For the cab, the floor liner guide found no source that measures the old floor against the new one, only liner makers that split their listings at 2024.
Four things still vary from truck to truck.
| Truck | What Ford and the guides say | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| XL, XLT, Lariat | SuperCrew, 5 ft bed and 10-speed automatic (Ford). No liner or cover title in the guides names a trim | Order by model year, not trim |
| Ranger Raptor | Same 5 ft bed. RealTruck lists the MX4, Ultra Flex, RetraxPRO XR and Lo Pro for it; Rough Country excludes it; Tyger doesn't list it; no liner pick names it | Look for Raptor in the cover title; get a written yes from the liner seller |
| 2026 model year | A Ranger6G owner reports thinner bed rail caps than on a 2025. BAK lists MX4 448352 for 2026 | Prefer a part that names 2026 |
| Trucks with Ford's cargo management rails | Retrax and Rough Country say their covers are not compatible; Yakima says tracked beds need Track Kit 1 or 2 | The UnderCover Ultra Flex has one owner report of fitting beside them; confirm the rack hardware |
| Vinyl or rubber floor | LASFIT's set and Smartliner's second row are for carpeted floors only. Ford's page lists a carpet floor covering, read under the XLT in the floor liner guide; the XL's was not read | Lift a factory mat; ask the seller for a set cut for that floor |
Plastic rail caps and cargo rails: choose the cover and the rack as a pair
The bed rack is last on the buying list and first on the deciding list. On this Ranger a tonneau cover and a bed rack attach along the same bed rails, and two features of those rails decide what can go there.
The rail caps are plastic. Ranger6G owners cited in the bed rack guide report caps breaking under rack weight. The common fix is a spacer kit and under-rail nut plates, such as those from American Adventure Lab, so the rack bolts through to the steel structure. Owners add that trucks built before about mid-September 2024 may also need J-braces.
Ford's cargo management rails are optional. A Ranger6G owner describes them as aluminum T-slot style rails with slots wider than standard aftermarket T-slot hardware, at about $400 MSRP. They can get in the way of racks that clamp to the bed rails. Yakima says tracked beds need its Track Kit 1 or 2, and RealTruck describes Putco's Venture TEC as mounting to the stake pockets or an OEM rail system. Neither page names Ford's rails, so confirm the hardware. For covers, Retrax and Rough Country say theirs are not compatible, and one owner fitted an UnderCover Ultra Flex, UX22033, beside the rails without interference.
The pairings the guides could document:
- Railed cover. The RetraxPRO XR, T-80338, about $2,100, has full-length T-slot rails for crossbars, racks and tents over the closed cover. One Ranger6G owner runs a mid-height truss rack on Retrax XR mounts over it.
- Tower rack with a tonneau kit. Yakima says select covers need its Tonneau Kit 1 under the OutPost HD and OverHaul HD towers. Its pages don't name the Ranger, so run the truck and the cover through Yakima's fit lookup.
- Hard tri-fold that allows a rack. Rough Country says its low-profile cover, about $700, is compatible with bed racks. It names no rack, and it excludes the Raptor.
- Roll-up under a rail system. A Ranger6G thread covers a 10 in rail system from American Adventure Lab built to work with roll-up covers, such as the TruXedo Lo Pro at about $490. Confirm the pair with the rail maker.
The bed rack guide says to check with Putco about covers, and the JOYTUTUS and OBNAUX listings don't mention them. Most folding covers leave nowhere to mount a rack, so settle the pair before paying for either part.
Then fit things in this order. Floor liners go in first. Ford's cargo rails, if the truck is getting them, go on before the cover, as the owner who fitted both advises. The cover goes on before the rack, as the bed rack guide advises. Spacers and nut plates go where the rack feet land.
Model years inside the generation: titles that stop at 2024 or 2025
The 2024 redesign is the first year line. There is a second one inside the generation. A Ranger6G owner who moved a cover from a 2025 to a 2026 found the 2026 bed rail caps thinner, about half an inch by his measurement, with the old cover's rails floating above them. RealTruck posted in a separate thread that makers adjusted their mounts, and another member said only early builds were affected. For the cab, the floor liner guide found no source describing a floor change for 2026.
A title that stops at 2024 or 2025 may simply be older than the newest truck. It may also mean nobody has checked.
| Part | What the maker or listing says | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| BAKFlip MX4 | 448342 on RealTruck for the 2024–2025 Ranger and Raptor; Amazon title reads 2024–2026; BAK lists 448352 for 2026 | On a 2026, check 448352 first |
| UnderCover Ultra Flex UX22033 | RealTruck lists 2024–2025; Amazon title names 2024 | Confirm 2025 and 2026 on the listing |
| RetraxPRO XR T-80338 | RealTruck lists 2024–2025; Amazon title reads 24–25 | Confirm a 2026 with the seller |
| TruXedo Lo Pro 531701 | RealTruck lists 2024–2025; Amazon title names 2024 | Confirm 2025 and 2026 with the seller |
| Rough Country 47220520B | Rough Country's page lists 2024–2025; Amazon title reads 2024–2026 | Confirm the part number for a 2026 |
| Tyger T3 TG-BC3F1205 | Tyger lists 2024–2025 | Ask Tyger about a 2026 |

Towing and payload: what Ford's pages say the truck already has
There is no trailer hitch guide for the 2024–2026 Ranger on this site, so hitches are not ranked here. This is what Ford's own pages say.
The receiver. Ford's 2026 Ranger towing guide lists a Class IV hitch receiver and a 4-pin and 7-pin connector as Trailer Tow Package equipment, and calls for that package, code 53R, on trailers over 3,500 lb. Ford's 2024 guide words it as "Requires available Trailer Tow Package (53R); standard on Raptor." So the Raptor has the package, and on an XL, XLT or Lariat it is an option. We could not confirm whether any of those three models includes it without the option, so don't go by trim name. Look under the rear bumper. The site's vehicle data lists a Class IV hitch with a 2 in receiver. The Ford pages we read confirm the class for 2026 and don't give the opening size. If a receiver is there, an aftermarket trailer hitch adds nothing.
The rating. The site's vehicle data lists a maximum of 7,500 lb. Ford's Ranger page gives 7,500 lb as the maximum available figure for the XL, XLT and Lariat with the available Trailer Tow Package, and 5,510 lb for the Raptor. Ford's 2024 guide adds that maximum towing varies with cargo, vehicle configuration, accessories and number of passengers. The 2026 guide lists a maximum tongue load of 750 lb, or 550 lb on the Raptor, and says not to exceed a 3,500 lb trailer when towing with the bumper only.
Payload. Ford's Ranger page, as we read it for the 2026 model, gives a maximum available payload of 1,767 lb for the 2.3 L 4x2, 1,763 lb for the 2.3 L 4x4, 1,513 lb for the 2.7 L 4x4 and 1,373 lb for the Raptor. The figure that counts is on your door-jamb label. A rack comes out of it first: Yakima lists the OverHaul HD towers at 59.52 lb and the OutPost HD towers at 44.09 lb before crossbars. Then add the cover, tent, gear, passengers and tongue weight. Keep tent and gear under the rack's moving figure, 600 lb dynamic for the Putco and 500 lb on-road for Yakima's towers. Thule's Xsporter Pro Low is rated at 220 lb, which rules out a tent with people in it.
What to avoid
Used 2019–2023 Ranger parts on a 2024+ truck. The bed is shorter and wider between the wheel wells, and makers sell separate covers and liners. Question any listing that reads 2019–2025 or 2004–2025.
Clamping a tent rack to the plastic rail caps alone. Ranger6G owners report caps breaking under rack weight. Use spacers and under-rail nut plates so the load reaches the steel bed structure.
Ignoring the cargo-rail and Raptor exclusions. Retrax and Rough Country exclude Ford's cargo management rails, Rough Country excludes the Raptor and Tyger doesn't list it.
Assuming a 2024–2025 part fits a 2026. An owner reports thinner rail caps on the 2026, and BAK lists a 2026-only MX4, 448352. Buy a part that names your year, or ask the seller.
Frequently asked questions
What should I upgrade first on a 2024–2026 Ford Ranger?
Floor liners, then a tonneau cover, then a bed rack if you need one. Liners cost the least, about $139–$180 for LASFIT's three-piece set in the floor liner guide, and need two checks: a title that names 2024 or later, and carpet or vinyl under the factory mat. The cover comes second because a 5 ft bed is small, and keeping it dry makes all of it usable. Decide on the rack before paying for the cover, since most folding covers leave nowhere to mount one. Smartliner liners bought by row and Tyger's T3 soft cover come to about $318–$389.
Do 2019–2023 Ranger covers, racks and liners fit the 2024 and newer Ranger?
Don't count on it. The guides list the 2024 bed at about 59.6 in long and 48.2 in between the wheel wells, against 61 in and 44.8 in on the older SuperCrew bed, and BAK, TruXedo and Tyger sell separate 2024+ covers. Liner makers split their listings at 2024 too. Racks are the grey area. Putco's Venture TEC listing reads 2019–2025, and budget clamp racks read 2019–2025 or 2004–2025 as one part. Treat a range like that as a claim to verify with the seller.
Does the 2024–2026 Ranger come as a SuperCab or with a 6 ft bed?
Not in the US, as far as the sources go. MotorWeek's report of the 2024 launch says the truck is available only as a SuperCrew with a 5 ft bed. Ford's Ranger page, which showed the 2026 model when we read it, lists the SuperCrew and a 59.6 in bed, though it doesn't say "only" in so many words. The 2019–2023 Ranger did come as a SuperCab with a 6 ft bed, so a listing that mentions either was most likely written for the older truck. Read its year range again before ordering.
Can I run a tonneau cover and a bed rack together on a 2024–2026 Ranger?
Yes, if you choose them as a pair. The RetraxPRO XR, part T-80338 at about $2,100, has full-length T-slot rails for crossbars and racks over the closed cover, but RealTruck lists it as not compatible with the bed cargo management system, so it is out on a truck with Ford's cargo rails. Yakima says select covers need its Tonneau Kit 1 under the OutPost HD and OverHaul HD towers. Rough Country says its hard tri-fold is compatible with bed racks, without naming one. Most folding covers leave nowhere to mount a rack, and budget clamp racks rarely mention covers, so ask the rack maker before buying both.
Do I need to buy a trailer hitch for a 2024–2026 Ranger?
Maybe not. Look under the rear bumper first. Ford's 2026 Ranger towing guide lists a Class IV hitch receiver as Trailer Tow Package equipment, and Ford's 2024 guide says that package is available on the Ranger and standard on the Raptor. So a Raptor should have a receiver, and an XL, XLT or Lariat has one if the package was ordered. We could not confirm whether any of those three includes it without the option. Ford's page gives a maximum of 7,500 lb with the package and 5,510 lb for the Raptor. If a receiver is there, an aftermarket trailer hitch adds nothing.
Does a Ranger Raptor need different parts?
For the bed, some. The Raptor has the same 5 ft bed, and RealTruck lists the BAKFlip MX4, UnderCover Ultra Flex, RetraxPRO XR and TruXedo Lo Pro for it. Rough Country says its low-profile cover does not fit the Raptor because of differences in bed design, and Tyger's T3 page doesn't list it. For the cab, nobody says. No floor liner pick names the Raptor, and the floor liner guide found no statement that its floor matches the other models, so get a written yes from the seller. The Raptor also tows less: 5,510 lb on Ford's page.
Will a part listed for 2024–2025 fit a 2026 Ranger?
Check before you buy. A Ranger6G owner reported that the 2026 rail caps are thinner than on his 2025, about half an inch by his measurement, and that his cover's rails floated above them. Another member said only early builds were affected, and BAK now lists a separate MX4, 448352, for 2026. For the cab, the floor liner guide found no source describing a floor change, and LASFIT, Husky and 3D MAXpider's full set already name 2026. Smartliner's Amazon titles stop at 2025. Buy a part that names 2026, or keep the seller's written answer.
How much does it cost to add all three upgrades to a 2024–2026 Ranger?
From the prices on the guides' picks, a budget build without a rack runs about $318–$389: Smartliner liners bought by row and Tyger's T3 soft cover. A mid build runs about $1,638–$1,679 before crossbars, with LASFIT's set, Rough Country's hard tri-fold and Yakima's OutPost HD towers. A premium build runs about $3,439–$3,480 before crossbars, with LASFIT's set, the RetraxPRO XR and Yakima's OverHaul HD towers. Owners who skip the rack can pair LASFIT liners with the BAKFlip MX4 for about $1,239–$1,280. Both rack pairings need confirming with Yakima.
My Ranger has Ford's bed cargo management rails. What changes?
The cover and the rack both change. RealTruck lists the RetraxPRO XR as not compatible with the system, and Rough Country says its cover doesn't work with OEM cargo systems. One Ranger6G owner fitted an UnderCover Ultra Flex, UX22033 at about $1,200, beside the rails with no interference, and advised installing the rails first and the cover last. For a rack, an owner notes the slots are wider than standard aftermarket T-slot hardware and that the rails can block clamp racks. Yakima says tracked beds need its Track Kit 1 or 2, so confirm the kit.
On the 2024–2026 Ranger, buy floor liners matched to model year and floor covering first and a tonneau cover matched to model year, Raptor and cargo rails second, and buy a bed rack only after choosing a cover that works with it and a mount that reaches the steel under the plastic rail caps.
The fifth-generation Ranger is simple in the two places where most midsize trucks are complicated. There is one cab and one bed, so nobody has to match a bed length or a rear floor. The questions move elsewhere: model year, Raptor or not, carpet or vinyl, cargo rails or not. Floor liners need the year and the floor covering and cost the least, so they go first. The tonneau cover needs the year, the model and a look for Ford's rails.
The bed rack sits last because few owners need one and few brand-name racks name this bed in their titles. The rack decision still has to be made before the cover is paid for. Skip the trailer hitch shopping until you have looked under the bumper, since Ford puts the receiver in the Trailer Tow Package. Owners of a 2019–2023 Ranger should shop from that truck's guides, because makers split their catalogs at 2024. Each linked guide covers the fit details for its category.

We did not install any of these parts. The order comes from the three fit-checked 2024–2026 Ranger guides on this site, weighing how many trucks each upgrade suits, what it costs and how much of its fit is confirmed for this generation (model year, Raptor, cargo rails, floor covering). Price bands are the prices listed on those guides' picks, checked in September and October 2026, and are approximate. Vehicle facts come from the site's vehicle data, the guides' sources, Ford's Ranger page, Ford's 2024 and 2026 Ranger towing guides, Wikipedia and MotorWeek's report of the 2024 launch. Where we could not confirm a factory detail, the text says so.
