Best LED Light Bars for 2019–2026 Ram 1500: 7 Kits for Grille, Bumper, Fog, Ditch and Roof

Seven Ram 1500 lighting setups, from a Rough Country bar hidden in the front bumper to Baja Designs fog pocket pods and a 50 in ZROADZ roof bar. Bars are mostly universal, so we focus on what is specific to the 2019–2026 Ram 1500 DT: the Classic sold next to it through 2024, the 2025 front-end change and which listings name the newer years, the Rebel, TRX and RHO fronts, wiring and amp draw, and the road rules that decide when you can switch a bar on.

Key takeaways
  1. Rule out the Classic. The older DS was sold as the Ram 1500 Classic through 2024. It keeps the previous front end, and none of these kits is listed for it.
  2. The 2025 front end is a new fit question. Stellantis describes a new, larger grille for 2025, and the Baja, Rough Country and Diode grille, bumper and fog listings we read stop at 2024.
  3. Rebel and TRX have their own kits. Baja lists fog pocket, bumper, grille and A-pillar kits for them, and Tasca says Rough Country's hidden bumper kit does not fit the Rebel.
  4. Hood-mount ditch lights cover the most years. Rough Country's kit is titled 2019–2025 and NIXON OFFROAD's brackets 2019–2026.
  5. Bars are off-road lights. Keep them off, and covered where your state requires, on public roads.

What to look for in Ram 1500 LED light bars

Which Ram 1500: Classic, 2019–2024 DT or 2025+

Three trucks share the Ram 1500 name in these years. Wikipedia says the fourth-generation DS stayed in production through the 2024 model year and was sold alongside the DT as the lower-priced Classic. It keeps the old front end, so skip any listing that says Classic or spans 2009–2018. The DT uses six-lug wheels, where the Classic keeps five, which is the fastest check. Then split the DT itself. Stellantis' release for the 2025 truck describes a new, larger, forward-leaning grille and new LED headlamps. The fit lists we read follow that line: Baja's Rebel and TRX kits are listed for 2019–24 or 2021–24, Rough Country's grille and bumper kits are titled 19-24, and Diode Dynamics' listings read 2019–2024. Only hood-mount parts are titled later. Buy a kit whose title names your model year.

Trim: Rebel, TRX, RHO and the EcoDiesel

Trim matters on the front of this truck. Baja Designs sells a full set of kits for the 2019–24 Rebel and 2021–24 TRX: fog pocket, bumper, grille and A-pillar, plus S8 and OnX6+ bumper bars listed for the TRX alone. Its S2 Sport fog pocket fit list also carries a plain Ram 1500 2021–2022 line with no trim named, so owners of other trims should ask Baja before ordering. Going the other way, Tasca Parts says Rough Country's 70781 hidden bumper kit does not fit Rebel models and does not fit EcoDiesel models. For the RHO, Stellantis says the truck has a unique grille, hood and steel bumpers and is eight inches wider than the rest of the light-duty lineup. We found no year-titled listing that names it, so RHO owners should confirm every front-end part with the maker.

Mount location: grille, bumper, fog pocket, ditch or roof

A Ram 1500 has five common homes for extra light. The factory grille takes two short bars: Battle Born Offroad says Rough Country's dual 6 in kit fits into the two slots in the factory grille. The front bumper hides a 20 in bar behind its mesh, which is where Rough Country's 70781 kit goes. The fog pockets take replacement pods, like Baja's S2 Sport kit for the Rebel and TRX. The hood mounts at the base of the windshield pillars take two pods, the ditch lights, which light trail edges and corners a forward bar misses. The roof takes the longest bar and reaches farthest, but it throws the most light back off the hood, makes the most wind noise, and sits well above the 16 to 42 in driving-light heights KC HiLiTES says most states use. Pick the location before the brand.

Output, beam and amp draw

Published numbers separate the documented kits from the marketing. Baja lists each S2 Sport pod at 1,581 lumens, 12.42 watts and 0.9 amps, and each XL80 at 9,022 lumens, 75.9 watts and 5.5 amps. Battle Born Offroad lists Rough Country's dual 6 in grille kit at 2,880 lumens and 36 watts in total with a 90 degree flood beam, and Tasca lists the 20 in bumper bar at 120 watts in an 8 degree spot and 90 degree flood combo. Lift Kits 4 Less names the ZROADZ roof bar as a 288 watt dual-row combo. Divide watts by about 13.8 volts to estimate amps: roughly 2.6 for the grille kit, 8.7 for the bumper bar and 21 for the roof bar. Flood beams light the near ground, spot beams reach down a trail, and a combo does some of both.

Wiring, switches, sealing and road use

Every add-on light needs a relay, an inline fuse sized for the load and a switch you can reach from the seat. Baja's fog pocket kit is plug and play, Rough Country's grille kit includes a flat-wound harness with an on/off switch, and Tasca lists a harness with an in-line fuse for the bumper kit. Baja says its XL80 A-pillar kit does not include a harness. Stellantis' 2025 release mentions an accessory switch bank below the touchscreen, but we could not confirm it offers spare circuits for add-on lights, so check your owner's manual. For sealing, Baja rates its pods IP69K, pressure washable and waterproof to 9 ft, and the two Rough Country kits with retailer pages are listed as IP67. On the road, KC HiLiTES says off-road-only lights must be off, and California and Pennsylvania add cover rules. Check your state's law.

#1: Rough Country 20 in Black Series Amber DRL Bumper Kit for 19-24 Ram 1500 — Best hidden bumper bar (2019–2024)

Confirm fit on listingNot Rebel or EcoDiesel (Tasca); Tasca's fit table stops at 2023. Confirm a 2024 and the finish on the listing.
Pros
  • 120 W in an 8 degree spot and 90 degree flood combo pattern (Tasca)
  • Hidden behind the mesh grille on the factory front bumper
  • IP67 die-cast aluminum housing (Tasca)
  • Amber running light built into the bar
  • Wiring harness with in-line fuse listed
Cons
  • Does not fit Rebel or EcoDiesel models (Tasca)
  • Title stops at 2024, and Tasca's fit table at 2023
  • No lumen figure; brackets and switch not spelled out on the page we read

For a 2019–2024 Ram 1500 that isn't a Rebel, Rough Country's 20 in hidden bumper kit hides a 120 watt bar behind a stock-looking front end. The Amazon title names part 70781 for the 19-24 Ram 1500 with an amber DRL. Tasca Parts' page for 70781 lists 120 watts of forward-facing light in an 8 degree spot and 90 degree flood combo pattern, an IP67 waterproof die-cast aluminum housing and a premium wiring harness with an in-line fuse, and says the bar sits hidden behind the mesh grille on the factory front bumper. Tasca lists it at $239.95 with a warranty of at least 12 months. At 120 watts the bar draws roughly 8.7 amps at 13.8 volts, an easy load for one fused relay circuit.

Read the fit notes before ordering. Tasca says the kit does not fit Rebel models and does not fit EcoDiesel models, and its fit table runs 2019–2023 even though the product name says 19-24, so owners of a 2024 should confirm with the seller. The 2025 truck has a new grille, and this listing does not name it. Two details we could not settle: Tasca calls the bar a chrome dual-row unit while the Amazon title says Black Series, and Tasca's page does not list brackets or a switch, so check the finish and the box contents on the listing. The page gives no lumen figure. Like every bar here, it is an off-road light on public roads.

Who it's for: Owners of 2019–2024 non-Rebel, non-EcoDiesel trucks who want a real bar with a stock look.

#2: Baja Designs S2 Sport Dual Fog Pocket LED Light Kit fits Dodge Ram 1500 Rebel 2019+ — Best fog pocket kit (Rebel, TRX)

Confirm fit on listingBaja's fit list stops at 2024 (Rebel 2019-24, TRX 2021-24). Confirm 2025+, beam pattern and pod count.
Pros
  • 1,581 lm, 12.42 W and 0.9 A per pod (Baja)
  • Plug and play: no trimming, cutting or splicing (Baja)
  • IP69K: pressure washable, waterproof to 9 ft
  • IK10 impact rating; hardcoated polycarbonate lens
  • Limited lifetime warranty and 30-day satisfaction guarantee
Cons
  • Baja lists the Rebel through 2024 and the TRX for 2021–2024 only
  • Not described as an SAE fog lamp; treat as off-road lighting
  • Amazon title says Driving/Combo; Baja's 448024 page shows Wide Cornering

The Rebel and TRX get their own fog pocket kits from Baja Designs, and the S2 Sport dual fog pocket kit is the one with a year-titled Amazon listing. Baja lists SKU 448024 at $643.95 for the 2019–2024 Ram 1500 Rebel and the 2021–2024 TRX. The kit puts S2 Sport pods in the factory fog pockets with mounting hardware and a wiring harness, and Baja says the plug-and-play system needs no difficult wiring, trimming, cutting or splicing. Each pod is listed at 1,581 lumens, 12.42 watts and 0.9 amps, measures about 2.9 by 1.8 by 1.7 in, and has a hardcoated polycarbonate lens. Baja rates the pods IP69K, which it defines as pressure washable and waterproof to 9 ft, and IK10 for impact, and backs them with a limited lifetime warranty and a 30-day satisfaction guarantee.

Three cautions. Baja's fit list ends at 2024, while the Amazon title reads Rebel 2019+ and TRX 2021+, so owners of a 2025 or 2026 Rebel should ask Baja before ordering. The list also carries a plain Ram 1500 2021–2022 line with no trim named, which we could not interpret, so owners of other trims should ask too. And the beam needs a check: the Amazon title says Driving/Combo, while Baja's 448024 page shows a Wide Cornering pattern with a clear lens. Confirm the pattern and the pod count on the listing. Baja's page does not call the S2 Sport an SAE fog lamp, so treat it as off-road lighting. Its Dual S2 SAE kit is the one to ask Baja about for road use.

Who it's for: Rebel and TRX owners who want a low, factory-looking mount with published specs and a lifetime warranty.

#3: Rough Country Dual 2 in LED Ditch Light Kit with Amber DRL for Ram 1500 (2019-2025) — Best ditch kit, titled through 2025

Rough Country Dual 2 in LED Ditch Light Kit with Amber DRL for Ram 1500 (2019-2025), 40W Spot Beams, 3600 Lumen

Confirm fit on listingSpecs from listing title only; title stops at 2025. Confirm 2026 and harness contents.
Pros
  • Title names the 2019–2025 Ram 1500
  • Two 2 in pods with spot beams and an amber DRL (per title)
  • Title lists 40 W and 3,600 lumens
  • Hood-mount position lights trail edges and corners
  • Pairs with any grille or bumper bar
Cons
  • Specs come only from the listing title
  • No IP rating or warranty term we could read
  • Title stops at 2025; confirm a 2026

If you want trail-edge light on any trim, this is the brand-name kit with the longest year range we found. Rough Country's dual 2 in LED ditch light kit with amber DRL is titled for the 2019–2025 Ram 1500, and the title lists 40 watt spot beams and 3,600 lumens with a waterproof build. Ditch lights sit on brackets at the rear corners of the hood, near the base of the windshield pillars, and point slightly outward. From there they light the edges of a trail and the inside of a turn, which a forward-facing grille or bumper bar cannot reach. That makes a ditch kit a sensible first upgrade on a truck whose front end no grille kit names, including the 2025 model.

The weak point is data. We did not open a Rough Country page for this kit, so the listing title is our only source. It does not say whether 40 watts and 3,600 lumens are per pod or for the pair, and we could not read a sealing rating, the harness contents or a warranty term, so check those on the listing before you buy. If 40 watts is the total, the pair draws about 2.9 amps at 13.8 volts; wire it through a relay and fuse either way. Rough Country also lists a Black Series spot version and a 3.5 in pod version, both titled 2019–2024. The title here stops at 2025, so owners of a 2026 should ask the seller. Keep the pods off on public roads where your state requires it.

Who it's for: Owners of any 2019–2025 trim who want trail-edge light from a known brand.

#4: ZROADZ Front Roof Mounted LED Bar Kit — Best roof bar

Confirm fit on listingRoof drilling required (retailer). Title PN differs from retailer's Z334721-KIT-C. Confirm part number, contents and 2023+ fit.
Pros
  • Complete kit per title: brackets, 50 in curved bar and wiring harness
  • Title names the 2019–2022 Ram 1500; the retailer's fit reads 2019 to present
  • Brackets are laser-cut steel, powder-coated black (Lift Kits 4 Less)
  • 288 W dual-row combo beam bar (Lift Kits 4 Less)
  • One drill hole per bracket also routes the wiring
Cons
  • Requires drilling the roof (Lift Kits 4 Less)
  • Most hood glare and wind noise; cover rules in some states
  • Amazon title prints part Z334571-KIT-C; the retailer lists Z334721-KIT-C, so confirm

For the most light down a trail, nothing beats a long bar on the roof, and ZROADZ's front roof kit is the one titled for this truck. The Amazon listing describes a complete kit for the 2019–2022 Dodge Ram 1500 with mounting brackets, a 50 in curved LED light bar and a wiring harness. Lift Kits 4 Less lists ZROADZ part Z334721-KIT-C for the 2019-to-present Ram 1500 as a roof-mounted 288 watt curved dual-row combo beam bar at $908.63. It describes the brackets as precision laser-cut steel, powder-coated black, with a through-bolt design that needs no cutting or welding but does require drilling the roof, and says a single hole per bracket routes all the wiring.

Check three things before you order. First, the part number: the Amazon title prints Z334571-KIT-C, while the retailer page we read is for Z334721-KIT-C, so ask the seller which part ships and confirm it is the kit for the 2019-and-later DT, not one for the Classic. Second, the contents: the retailer page carries a line saying lights are not included even though the kit name includes the bar, so confirm the bar and harness are in the box. Third, the load: 288 watts is about 21 amps at 13.8 volts, which needs its own relay and heavy wire. A roof bar also throws light back off the hood, adds wind noise, and sits well above the 16 to 42 in driving-light heights KC HiLiTES cites. We could not read lumens, a sealing rating or a warranty for the bar.

Who it's for: Trail and ranch drivers who want maximum reach and accept holes in the roof, glare, noise and cover rules.

#5: Rough Country Dual Black Series 6 in LED Grille Kit for 19-24 Ram 1500 — Best budget grille kit

Pros
  • Two 6 in bars, 2,880 lm and 36 W in total (Battle Born Offroad)
  • Fits into the two slots in the factory grille
  • Flat-wound harness with on/off switch included
  • IP67, die-cast aluminum housings
  • 3-year warranty and lifetime replacement guarantee listed
Cons
  • 90 degree flood only; short reach
  • Title stops at 2024; not listed for the 2025 grille
  • No trim notes on the retailer page; confirm your grille has the two slots

If you want light in the grille for the least money, Rough Country's dual 6 in Black Series kit is the documented budget pick. The Amazon title names part 70783 for the 19-24 Ram 1500. Battle Born Offroad's page for the same part lists two 6 in bars with six 3 watt Cree LEDs each, 2,880 lumens and 36 watts in total, a 90 degree flood beam, die-cast aluminum housings and an IP67 waterproof rating. The kit includes black powder-coated brackets and a flat-wound wiring harness with an on/off switch, and the page says the lights fit into the two slots in the factory grille. Battle Born lists it at $104.95 with a 3-year warranty and a lifetime replacement guarantee, so ask the seller which terms apply to you.

Know what you are buying. A 36 watt flood is a near-field light for job sites, camp and slow trails, not a long-range bar, and it draws only about 2.6 amps at 13.8 volts. The retailer page lists the 2019–2024 Ram 1500 in 2WD and 4WD with no trim exclusions, but we could not confirm that every trim's grille has those two slots, so check yours before ordering, most of all on a Rebel or TRX. The title stops at 2024, and Stellantis describes a new, larger grille for 2025, so this is not a kit to buy for a 2025 or 2026 truck without the seller's answer. It is off-road lighting on public roads.

Who it's for: Budget buyers with a 2019–2024 truck who want a hidden flood light with a harness and switch in the box.

Confirm fit on listingTitle years are shorter than Baja's list (Rebel 2019-24, TRX 2021-24). Confirm year and beam; no harness included.
Pros
  • 9,022 lm per XL80 light (Baja)
  • 75.9 W and 5.5 A per light, with a 20 percent dimming mode
  • IP69K: pressure washable, waterproof to 9 ft
  • Hard-anodized, powder-coated cast aluminum housings; stainless hardware
  • Limited lifetime warranty and 30-day money-back guarantee
Cons
  • Baja lists the Rebel and TRX only
  • No wiring harness included (Baja)
  • Most expensive kit here; the title's years are shorter than Baja's list

For the most output from the A-pillar position, Baja Designs' XL80 kit is the premium choice, with the caveat that Baja lists it only for the Rebel and TRX. Baja's page gives SKU 447772 at $1,176.95 for the 2019–2024 Ram 1500 Rebel and the 2021–2024 TRX. Each XL80 light is listed at 9,022 lumens, 75.9 watts and 5.5 amps, with a high beam and a 20 percent dimming feature, in a hard-anodized and powder-coated cast aluminum housing rated IP69K. The mounting hardware is stainless steel. Baja backs the kit with a limited lifetime warranty and a 30-day money-back guarantee. One XL80 makes more than three times the lumens of the whole Rough Country grille kit, so a pair at the A-pillars is serious trail lighting.

Plan for the extras and check the details. Baja's specification table says no wiring harness is included, so budget for a relay harness with a fuse and a switch sized for 5.5 amps per light. The Amazon title reads Rebel 2019-22 and TRX 2021-23 with a Driving/Combo pattern, while Baja's page lists 2019–2024 and 2021–2024 and shows a spot pattern for SKU 447772, so confirm the years and the beam on the listing. Baja's description doesn't spell out the mounting method, so read the install sheet before ordering. Lights this bright at eye level reflect off the hood, so aim them out and down, and keep them off on public roads. Owners of other trims should look at Rigid's and Diode Dynamics' A-pillar and ditch listings, which name the Ram 1500 without a trim.

Who it's for: Rebel and TRX owners who want the highest-output ditch lights with a lifetime warranty.

Pros
  • Title names the 2019–2026 Ram 1500
  • Steel brackets in black, sold as a pair (per title)
  • Lets you reuse pods you already own
  • Hood mount leaves the grille and bumper untouched
  • Lowest-cost route to ditch lights on a 2025 or 2026 truck
Cons
  • Specs only from the listing title; no maker page read
  • Pods, harness and switch sold separately
  • No warranty, thickness or pod-footprint data we could verify

For a 2025 or 2026 truck, NIXON OFFROAD's hood mount brackets are the lowest-cost way to get ditch-light mounts whose title names your model year. The Amazon listing describes a pair of black steel brackets for the 2019–2026 Dodge Ram 1500 that mount at the front A-pillar and engine hood for ditch light pods. Because pods are universal, a pair from a previous truck, or any brand-name pods you prefer, can go on these brackets. That keeps the total cost low and lets you choose the beam and the sealing rating yourself. It also leaves the 2025 grille and bumper alone, which matters while no grille or bumper kit we found names the new front end.

The trade-off is verification. We did not read a maker page for these brackets, so the title is our only source. Steel thickness, finish quality, the pod sizes the brackets accept, whether they bolt to existing points and any warranty are unknown, so ask the seller before ordering. Check the bolts after the first rough road, because thin brackets let pods shake and throw the beam around. Budget for a harness with a relay, a fuse and a switch. If you want a known brand on the bracket, Rigid's A-pillar mount is titled 2019+ for the Ram 1500 and Diode Dynamics' bracket-only ditch kit is titled 2019–2024. Like every ditch light, pods on these brackets are off-road lights in most states, so keep them off on public roads.

Who it's for: Owners of 2025–2026 trucks, or anyone with pods on hand, who want the cheapest year-named brackets.

How to install an LED light bar on the Ram 1500

  1. Identify your truck: Classic (five-lug, old front end), 2019–2024 DT or 2025–2026 DT, plus the trim. Buy only a kit whose listing names that year, and ask the seller about Rebel, TRX, RHO and EcoDiesel fit.
  2. Check your owner's manual and the switch row under the screen for auxiliary switches. We could not confirm Ram fits spare circuits for add-on lights, so plan on the kit's own harness, relay, fuse and switch.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery terminal before any wiring work.
  4. Fit the brackets where the instructions show (grille slots, behind the bumper mesh, fog pockets, hood mounts or roof), leaving bolts loose for aiming. The ZROADZ roof mounts need one hole drilled per bracket; seal each hole as the instructions direct.
  5. Route the harness away from exhaust heat and hood hinge travel, mount the relay and fuse near the battery, and pass the switch wire through an existing firewall grommet.
  6. Reconnect the battery, test every light, and check the dash for camera or driver-assist warnings.
  7. Aim the lights at night on level ground, tighten every bolt, re-check after the first rough road, and keep off-road lights off, and covered where required, on public roads.

What to avoid

Parts for the Ram 1500 Classic, or for 2009–2018 trucks. The Classic is the previous-generation DS, sold alongside the DT through 2024. Its front-end kits are not listed for the DT. Check the title for 2019 or later and for the word Classic.

A 2019–2024 grille, bumper or fog kit on a 2025 or 2026 truck. Stellantis describes a new, larger grille and new headlamps for 2025, and the Baja, Rough Country and Diode listings we read stop at 2024. Buy a listing that names your year.

A standard-trim bumper kit on a Rebel, TRX or RHO. Tasca says Rough Country's hidden bumper kit does not fit Rebel models, Baja sells separate Rebel and TRX kits, and Stellantis says the RHO has its own grille, hood and steel bumpers.

Driving with a bar or pods on. Grille, bumper, ditch and roof lights are off-road lighting in most states, and some require covers. Check your state's law before you switch them on in traffic.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best LED light bar for a 2019–2026 Ram 1500?

For a 2019–2024 truck that isn't a Rebel, Rough Country's 20 in hidden bumper kit, part 70781. Tasca Parts' page for it lists 120 watts in an 8 degree spot and 90 degree flood combo pattern, an amber running light, an IP67 die-cast aluminum housing and a wiring harness with an in-line fuse, at $239.95, and says the bar sits hidden behind the mesh grille on the factory front bumper. Tasca also says it does not fit Rebel or EcoDiesel models. Rebel and TRX owners should start with Baja Designs' S2 Sport fog pocket kit. For a 2025 or 2026 truck, no grille or bumper kit we found names the new front end, so hood-mount ditch lights are the safer first buy.

Will a light kit for the Ram 1500 Classic fit my truck, and how do I tell which Ram I have?

No. Wikipedia says the fourth-generation DS stayed in production through the 2024 model year and was sold alongside the fifth-generation DT as the lower-priced Classic, so a 2019–2024 registration that reads Ram 1500 can be either truck. The Classic keeps the previous front end, so grille, bumper and fog parts don't swap. The quick check is the wheels: the DT uses a six-lug pattern, while the Classic keeps five lugs. Every pick on this page is listed for the 2019-and-later DT, and none of the titles names the Classic. If a listing says Classic, or spans 2009–2018, it is for the old truck.

Do 2019–2024 Ram 1500 light kits fit a 2025 or 2026 truck?

Don't assume it. Stellantis' release for the 2025 Ram 1500 describes a new, larger, forward-leaning grille and new LED headlamps, and the fit lists we read stop at that change. Every Baja Designs kit on its Rebel and TRX page is listed for 2019–24 or 2021–24, Rough Country's grille and bumper kits are titled 19-24, and Diode Dynamics' ditch and fog pocket listings read 2019–2024. The later years show up only on hood-mount parts: Rough Country's amber DRL ditch kit is titled 2019–2025, NIXON OFFROAD's brackets 2019–2026, and Rigid's A-pillar mount 2019+. For a 2025 or 2026 truck, buy a listing that names your year, or ask the seller before ordering.

Which light kits fit the Ram 1500 Rebel, TRX and RHO?

Baja Designs is the maker that names the first two. Its Rebel and TRX page lists fog pocket, bumper, grille and A-pillar kits for the 2019–24 Rebel and 2021–24 TRX, plus S8 and OnX6+ bumper bar kits listed for the TRX alone. Going the other way, Tasca Parts says Rough Country's 70781 hidden bumper kit does not fit Rebel models. The RHO is a different case. Stellantis says the 2025 RHO has a unique grille, hood and steel bumpers and is eight inches wider than anything else in the light-duty lineup, and no listing with a model year in its title that we found names it. RHO owners should confirm every front-end part with the maker before ordering.

Does the Ram 1500 have factory auxiliary or upfitter switches?

We could not confirm it from a Ram source. Stellantis' release for the 2025 Ram 1500 mentions an accessory switch bank below the touchscreen, and its RHO release mentions an RHO-only multifunction switch bank, but neither says those switches include spare circuits for add-on lights. So don't plan on them. Check your owner's manual and the switch row under the screen. Baja's fog pocket kit comes with its own plug-and-play harness, and Rough Country's grille kit includes a harness with an on/off switch. The bracket-only picks, and Baja's XL80 kit, need a relay harness with an inline fuse and a switch bought separately.

Are LED light bars legal on the road in a Ram 1500?

Usually not while driving. KC HiLiTES says that in general it is illegal to have off-road-only lights turned on while on the roadway, that California requires them covered with an opaque cover and turned off, and that Pennsylvania requires roof-mounted off-road lights covered on the highway. KC also notes that some states cap how many front lamps can be lit at once, and gives typical mounting heights of 16 to 42 in for driving lights and 12 to 30 in for fog lamps. Treat every bar and pod on this page as an off-road light. Check your own state's law before you wire a switch.

Do I need to drill to install a light bar on a Ram 1500?

It depends on the mount. Baja says its S2 Sport fog pocket kit needs no trimming, cutting or splicing. Battle Born Offroad's page says Rough Country's dual 6 in kit fits into the two slots in the factory grille. Tasca's page for the hidden bumper kit gives no drilling or cutting details, so read the install sheet first. The roof is the exception: Lift Kits 4 Less says ZROADZ's Z334721 roof mounts need no cutting or welding but do require drilling the roof, one hole per bracket, which also routes the wiring. For the hood-mount ditch brackets, the listing title is our only source, so confirm on the listing that they bolt to existing points.

How much current do Ram 1500 light kits draw?

Baja lists each S2 Sport fog pod at 12.42 watts and 0.9 amps, and each XL80 A-pillar light at 75.9 watts and 5.5 amps. Rough Country's dual 6 in grille kit is 36 watts in total, roughly 2.6 amps at 13.8 volts, and its 20 in hidden bumper bar is 120 watts, roughly 8.7 amps. The ZROADZ roof kit's 288 watt bar works out to about 21 amps, which needs its own relay and heavy wire. The amp figures for Rough Country and ZROADZ are our arithmetic from the published watts. Give each bar or pair of pods a relay, an inline fuse sized for the load and a switch.

Can I upgrade the fog lights on a Ram 1500 instead of adding a bar?

Yes, with a caveat about trim. Baja Designs lists its S2 Sport dual fog pocket kit, SKU 448024, at $643.95 for the 2019–2024 Rebel and 2021–2024 TRX, with plug-and-play wiring and pods rated at 1,581 lumens each. Baja's Rebel and TRX page also lists a Dual S2 SAE fog pocket kit at $774.95. We did not open that product page, so confirm the SAE details with Baja if you want a fog beam for road use. For other trims, Diode Dynamics has a fog pocket listing titled for the 2019–2024 Ram 1500. It is brackets only and we did not read a Diode page for it, so confirm your bumper and fog lamp type with the seller.

Which mount is best on a Ram 1500: grille, bumper, fog pocket, ditch or roof?

Start low and hidden, then add reach. A hidden bumper bar such as Rough Country's 120 watt kit gives the most forward light with a stock look. The grille kit's two 6 in bars are a 2,880 lumen flood for the near field. Fog pocket pods sit lowest and throw the least glare. Ditch lights on the hood mounts light trail edges and the inside of a turn, which a forward bar misses. A 50 in roof bar reaches farthest, but it adds hood glare and wind noise, needs holes in the roof on the ZROADZ kit, and is the mount most likely to need a cover on the road. Most owners are best served by a bumper or grille bar plus ditch pods.

FINAL VERDICT

Sort by truck first: Rough Country's hidden bumper kit for a 2019–2024 standard trim, Baja's fog pocket and XL80 kits for a Rebel or TRX, and hood-mount ditch lights titled for your year on a 2025 or 2026 truck.

On a 2019–2026 Ram 1500 the truck decides fit more than the light does. For a 2019–2024 DT that isn't a Rebel or an EcoDiesel, Rough Country's 20 in hidden bumper kit is the best-documented bar here, with 120 watts, an IP67 housing and a fused harness, and the dual 6 in grille kit covers the budget end with a harness and switch in the box. Rebel and TRX owners have Baja Designs' S2 Sport fog pocket kit and, at the premium end, the XL80 A-pillar kit. The ZROADZ roof kit adds the most reach, at the cost of holes in the roof, glare, noise and cover rules. For a 2025 or 2026 truck, the hood mounts are the safe buy: Rough Country's ditch kit is titled through 2025 and NIXON OFFROAD's brackets through 2026, while no grille, bumper or fog kit we found names the new front end. Whatever you choose, wire it with a relay and fuse, and switch it off on the road.

Lighting is one part of a wider setup. Running boards make the climb into a tall Crew Cab easier, and they matter more on an RHO, which Stellantis says rides 2 in higher. A tonneau cover keeps recovery gear and spare harness parts dry and out of sight, and a bed rack can carry rear-facing camp lights without adding anything to the cab. Floor liners keep trail mud off the carpet. The vehicle hub lists every fit-checked accessory for your Ram 1500.

How we chose

We did not install these lights ourselves. We ranked them on published specs (lumens, watts, amps, beam, sealing, harness, warranty) from Baja Designs and from retailer pages for Rough Country (Battle Born Offroad, Tasca Parts) and ZROADZ (Lift Kits 4 Less), on the fitment each maker, retailer or Amazon listing title gives for the 2019–2026 Ram 1500, and on KC HiLiTES' general guidance on auxiliary lighting. Truck facts come from Wikipedia and two Stellantis releases. Where a spec comes only from an Amazon listing title, we say so. Prices were checked at those makers and retailers in October 2026. Amazon prices move daily, so the button shows the live price.
